Welcome to the website of Nav Kara, an experienced ENT consultant specializing in Ear, Nose, and Throat conditions. With expertise gained from the University of Aberdeen and extensive training across Scotland and the North of England, Mr. Kara has been dedicated to ENT practice since 2005. He currently serves patients at Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.

As a trusted ENT specialist, Mr. Kara offers a comprehensive range of services for both adults and children. His areas of focus include general ENT care, addressing a wide spectrum of conditions. Collaborating closely with private Audiologists, Balance therapists, and Speech & Language Therapists, he ensures a holistic and well-rounded approach to patient care.

One of Mr. Kara's subspecialty interests lies in Rhinology, where he serves as the Rhinology lead for his department. With expertise in managing allergies, complex sinus surgery, nasal polyps, nasal blockage/deformity resulting from trauma, and deviated nasal septums, he provides specialized care in this area. Additionally, he conducts dedicated Paediatric clinics, focusing primarily on common childhood issues such as hearing loss, tonsillitis, and obstructive breathing (OSA).

Mr. Kara is actively involved in medical education and training. He serves as a faculty member on National Courses in Septorhinoplasty/Facial Plastics and Endoscopic Sinus Surgery. Moreover, he is a co-founder of a charity dedicated to providing National ENT Training to junior doctors and nurses. He passionately shares his knowledge and expertise by teaching trainees, medical students, and work experience students in his day-to-day NHS practice and regional junior doctor surgical training days.

With a strong interest in research, Mr. Kara serves as the Research Lead for the ENT Department and Surgical Directorate. He actively participates as a Principal Investigator in collaborative National Clinical Trials and has been a co-applicant on a significant £1m National Grant Award. His research findings are regularly published in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the advancement of ENT care.

Having held previous roles as Departmental Clinical Lead and Clinical Governance Lead, Mr. Kara is committed to enhancing the patient experience through innovation. Patient safety remains a top priority, and he firmly believes that open and honest communication is integral to achieving this goal.

Mr. Kara ensures that patients are well-informed about their condition and the available treatment options. He has observed that patients who are actively involved in the decision-making process tend to achieve better surgical outcomes.

For children requiring clinic consultations, Mr. Kara provides services exclusively at Spire Washington Hospital. In the event that surgery is recommended, he conducts procedures at the local NHS Hospital, ensuring the highest standard of care.
